SEA TROUT TRACKING ON THE
SUSSEX RIVER OUSE SPRING 2006

A project to upgrade the infrastructure at tracking stations which monitor and record the movements of radio tagged sea trout using Lotek SRX 400 Telemetry Receivers with inbuilt Dataloggers.

To eliminate the carrying of large sealed acid batteries to the remote sites 80 watt solar panels were installed complete with solar regulators.

It was tranquil when we surveyed !
But when we came to do the job!!

Andrew's Weir

This station has all the kit including fish counter, camera, elapsed VCR and had been assembled over a long time period adding bits. As a result the distribution in the kiosk left a lot to be desired and a complete new set of filtered outlets were added on the rear wall together with new shelves to accommodate all the equipment.

Barcombe Mill

At this location 5 aerials collect signals from 5 different river channels to maximise movements of the tagged fish. An existing rack was modified and re-used to house all the equipment including the pre-amplifier power supplies for the 5 aerials.
